Our Goal

Welcome to the Jackson County, Colorado online license plate museum! This independent project was started in 2016 by license plate collector and ALPCA member Colin McGregor (#11808). Nowadays we’ve expanded thanks to the generous help of a couple other collectors and historians.

The goal in creating this museum has been to spotlight the rich overall history of license plates in the county as well as the individual years, types, codes, and multi-year bases that identified (and continue to label) vehicles registered in North Park.

We’re not ZJ natives ourselves, but my reason for cataloguing the region’s plates arose from what we saw as a dearth of appreciation for Jackson County’s automotive history. Other collectors and historians have already devoted much attention to license plates from counties such as Mineral, San Juan, Park, Hinsdale, Teller, Yuma, and more, but before this archive existed, no such care was given to Jackson County. (We also greatly enjoy my time there–it’s one of the most unique places in the state of Colorado.)

After some observation and consideration, we eventually decided that a Jackson County Museum was a project worthy of my time, effort, and money. And here we are, several years later, proud to present to the North Park community the most detailed and comprehensive history of Jackson County, Colorado license plates in the world!

It should be noted that this site is run completely out of my own pockets, and both the license plates we get and the website itself cost money. Please contact me if you’re interested in donating license plates or making a monetary contribution. Either would be greatly appreciated. At any rate, this archive has been incredibly fun and rewarding to put together and we’re excited to see what the future has in store for it. Thanks to everyone who has helped us so far. You’re all credited on the site so you know who you are!

That’s all from us. Enjoy the museum!
